About

Kathryn Joel is a passionate foodie whose love of cooking has taken her around the globe exploring diverse culinary traditions.  A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu London, she has acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise of global cuisines and cooking methods.

Kathryn has combined her culinary expertise with her commitment to uncomplicated, approachable cooking, by bringing Get Cooking to Edmonton.

During her years working with food, Kathryn realized that with some basic cooking skills and a good local knowledge of where to source the right ingredients, anyone can bring flavours from around the world into their own kitchens.  And as a member of Live Local Eat Local Kathryn aims to support Edmonton’s local producers and suppliers by focusing on the use of fresh and local ingredients in her classes.

[message type="custom"]Get Cooking classes take place in the relaxed setting of Kathryn’s purpose-built home kitchen in southwest Edmonton. Classes are designed to be fun as well as inclusive and informative.

Get Cooking offers cooking classes for a wide range of food enthusiasts:  those who want to learn some basic skills that will give them more confidence in the kitchen; those who are interested in exploring global eating and learning how to prepare food that originates in exotic locales; and those who are passionate about eating fresh, buying local and getting to know their food producers.

Get Cooking classes vary in theme and design.  Some classes are comprised of a market tour, followed by preparation of the items purchased; other classes focus on specific skills or specialized techniques; yet others focus on a single ingredient prepared a variety of ways.  Common to all classes is Kathryn’s dedication to the use of  local produce and her love of Edmonton’s ethnic markets.

All classes conclude with a glass of wine, a menu tasting and a chat about the lesson.
